No: 202, 22 June 2017, Press Release Regarding the Re-election of Associate Professor Gün Kut to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Elections to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), the monitoring body of the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, with the aim of electing members for the term 2018-2021, are held in New York on June 22, 2017.

Mr. Gün Kut, Associate Professor at Boğaziçi University, who has been serving on the Committee since 2010 has been renominated by Turkey and elected by receiving 128 votes, one of the highest in the elections in which 15 candidates competed for the 9 vacant seats. This result is also a reflection of our country’s reputation in this area.

Accordingly, Assoc. Prof. Gün Kut, with his vast experience in the field of combatting racism, discrimination and intolerance, will continue to make valuable contributions to the activities of the Committee during the term 2018-2021.
