No: 115, 11 April 2014, Press Release Regarding the Attack Perpetrated Against the Premises of the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu

The worksite buildings on the premises of our Embassy in Mogadishu were attacked with a shoulder-fired RPG at around 01:30 a.m. on 10 April 2014. We have learned with great sorrow that two of our workers were injured as a result of the attack. Initial treatment was carried out by the doctors of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey serving in Mogadishu. Our injured citizens were taken to Ankara at 03:20 a.m. on 11 April 2014 with an ambulance aircraft allocated by the Ministry of Health and their treatment started. We wish a speedy recovery to our injured citizens.

Turkey strongly condemns this heinous attack targeting our citizens who work in the construction of the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu. We expect that perpetrators of this dastardly attack will be caught and brought to justice.

Turkey will continue to stand by the people of Somalia in order to be able to contribute to the establishment of peace and welfare in Somalia.
