Foreign Minister of Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Poposki paid an official visit to Turkey on 12-13 March, 2015 upon the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

At the meetings held on the occasion of the visit, all aspects of bilateral relations were reviewed and views were exchanged on current regional and multilateral issues.

At the joint press conference held following the meetings, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined that Turkey supports both EU and NATO memberships of Macedonia which Turkey recognizes with its constitutional name.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that along with the political relations that are at an excellent level, trade relations have also increased and the trade volume rose 10% compared with that of last year. Foreign Minister stated that the investments made by Turkish business people in Macedonia continue to increase and with the free trade area which is to be established, the level of investments will further grow.

Macedonian Foreign Minister of the other hand, stated that the cooperation between Macedonia and Turkey deepens every year and said “Turkey’s recognition of Macedonia with its constitutional name is very important for us”.
