Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn of Cambodia paid an official visit to Turkey on 1-3 October 2018.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with his Cambodian counterpart on 2 October 2018.

Following the meeting, two Ministers held a joint press conference.

At the press conference, Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that he was the first Turkish Foreign Minister who visited Cambodia and that he has the pleasure of hosting in Ankara, Prak Sokhonn, the first Cambodian Foreign Minister paying a bilateral visit to Turkey.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also stated that Turkey opened its embassy in Phnom Penh in 2013 and Cambodia will also open its embassy in Ankara soon. Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey and Cambodia will build cooperation on a solid ground through the agreements that will be signed and the Memorandum of Understanding between Diplomacy Academies of Turkish and Cambodian Foreignn Ministries constitutes the first step.
