Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu hosted the launching reception of the Turkish GFMD Chairmanship on 22 September 2014 in New York.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu delivered a speech at the reception where around 120 participants attended, including Ministers of 9 countries (Ukranie, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Comoros, Eritrea, Liberia, New Zealand, Libya and Morocco) and Deputy Ministers of two countries ( Bangladesh and Kazakhstan) as well as Permanent Representatives of UN Member States. During the reception, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu announced the priorities of the Turkish GFMD Chairmanship.

Deputy-Secretary General of the UN, Mr. Jan Eliasson and, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Mr. Guy Ryder, current Chair of the Global Migration Group (GMG), also delivered speeches at the reception. Representatives of various UN Agencies and representatives of other Permanent Missions in New York as well as Cihan Sultanoğlu, the Vice President of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) attended the reception.
