On 19 June 2015, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a meeting with Antonio Guterres, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, who paid a visit to Turkey on the occasion of 20 June Word Refugee Day, between 17-21 June 2015, in order to address the situation of Syrians and Iraqis in Turkey and regional and global refugee issues.

Within the scope of the meeting, the influx of Syrians after the latest developments in Tel Abyad to Turkey, the protection and services provided by Turkey, the humanitarian operations led by Turkey on Syria crisis, education of Syrian children and strengthening of the existing cooperation between Turkey and UNHCR have been addressed.

The visit of Antonio Guterres aims to bring to the attention of the world public opinion the protection and services provided by Turkey for almost 2 million Syrians and Iraqis.
