Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu paid an official visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) on 3-4 May 2012 upon the invitation of Mr. Zlatko Lagumdzija, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
During this first official visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina following the formation of State level government after a sixteen month-long interval on 10 February 2012, Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoğlu, in addition to his meetings with Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija met with the Chairman and members of the BiH Presidency, Bakir Izetbegoviç, Nebojsa Radmanoviç and Zeljko Komsiç, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Vjekoslav Bevanda, Minister of Defense, Muhamed Ibrahimoviç, members of the Joint Collegium of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and political party leaders. The ongoing reform process in BiH and all dimensions of the bilateral relations were discussed at the meetings. Next steps to be taken in the economic field were evaluated. Moreover, views concerning recent regional and international developments particularly with regard to the Balkans were exchanged.
Pointing out that peace, stability and security in the Balkans are closely aligned with BiH’s peace, stability and security, Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoğlu underlined Turkey’s support to the unity of BiH during the meetings. Foreign Minister Mr. Davutoğlu said that that Turkey would contribute to the projects aiming at the return of displaced persons and refugees as well as the projects creating employment opportunities. He also underlined that Turkey would continue to support BiH’s membership to the international organizations in particular Euro-Atlantic institutions.
Foreign Minister Davutoğlu also participated in the ceremony organized by the “International League of Humanists” on the occasion of “The Golden Charter” special award which was presented to him.
