Foreign Minister Davutoğlu “Turkey will continue to support the Syrian Turkmen”.

Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey attended the meeting of Syrian Turkmen Platform concerning the foundation of the Syrian Turkmen Assembly, held on March 30, 2013 in Ankara.

Speaking at the meeting Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said that there are historical defining moments when nations are tested and now Syria is going through such a process. Syrian Turkmen passed the test in the best way; added Foreign Minister Davutoğlu emphasizing that in this process, Turkey will continue to stand by the Syrian Turkmen under any circumstances.

Referring the Syrian people hosted in Turkey, “I hope each of you will return to your warm homes as soon as possible. But, if you have to stay here, our home is your home, our food is your food and our destiny is your destiny. Because we have not opened our doors and homes, we have opened the doors of our hearts to the Syrian people” said Foreign Minister Davutoğlu.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu, pointing the process of founding a new state in Syria called on the Syrian Turkmen to preserve their unity. Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said that the Syrian Turkmen should take an active role in the Syrian National Coalition and should also consider the role and contribution within the new Syrian administration.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu asked Syrian Turkmen to take their place in the new Middle East as well and to build a bridge of brotherhood between Turkey and Syria.
