Foreign Minister Davutoğlu met with Osmanoğlu family in London.

Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey met with members of Osmanoğlu family living in the United Kingdom at a dinner hosted by Turkish Embassy in London on March 7, 2013. Twenty family members including Osman Selahaddin, Mehmed Ziyaeddin and Ömer Abdülmecid Osmanoğlu, grandsons of Sultan Abdülmecid attended the dinner.

Speaking at the dinner Foreign Minister Davutoğlu pointed out the very special and historic character of the meeting and said that it was a great pleasure to meet with the members of Osmanoğlu family who did not lose their identity and their commitment to the country although they were living abroad for many years. Foreign Minister Davutoğlu recalled that Turkish Embassies were also home for the family members like every other Turkish citizen. Expressing his wish to come together with the family members also in Turkey in the near future Foreign Minister Davutoğlu invited them to Seb-i Aruz ceremonies to be held in December in Konya.

Thanking Foreign Minister Davutoğlu Osman Selahaddin Osmanoğlu said that the invitation was very touching to them. Osman Selahaddin Osmanoğlu stressed that it was the first time that a large number of family members came together and they were grateful for Foreign Minister Davutoğlu’s initiative.
