Foreign Minister Davutoğlu “We agreed to establish the Turkey-Albania High Level Cooperation Council”

Mr. Ditmir Bushati, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania is paying a working visit to Turkey on 18-19 April 2014.

During the meeting held between the delegations headed by Foreign Minister Davutoğlu and Foreign Minister Bushati, Turkish-Albanian bilateral relations, international and regional issues, particularly efforts towards establishing a “Strategic Partnership and High Level Cooperation Council” between the two countries were discussed.

Speaking at the joint press conference, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said that the two countries agreed to establish High Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the Council will convene at the earliest. Foreign Minister Davutoğlu emphasized that the mutual investments between the two countries increased to 2 billion Dollars and added that it was aimed to increase the bilateral trade volume from 400 million Dollars to one billion Dollars.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu noted that it was also decided to further strengthen the cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries. Pointing out that the EU was also on agenda of the meeting Foreign Minister Davutoğlu stressed that Turkey has always supported Albania’s EU membership.

“We together endeavor for our common goals” said Foreign Minister Davutoğlu and underlined that bilateral cooperation will continue at the highest level in international organizations as well.

Within the framework of the visit, “The Document of Understanding Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania on Cooperation in Information Technologies” was signed.
