On July 3, 2014, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu made a press statement concerning the Turkish truck drivers who were kept in Iraq.

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said “After our day and night-long efforts, I’m pleased to say that a while ago 32 Turkish truck drivers were received by Turkish Consul-General in Arbil”.

Pointing out that Turkey with its all institutions carried out an intensive work, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said that Turkish truck drivers will arrive Turkey in the evening via Turkish Airlines plane.

Emphasizing that all truck drivers are in good health, Foreign Minister said “Nothing is more important than the life and well-being of our citizens.”

Noting that the fragile process still continues, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu stressed that our prayers and efforts will continue with a view to ensuring the return of the personnel of the Turkish Consulate in Mosul to Turkey.
