Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Switzerland on 2-3 November 2016 upon the invitation of his counterpart Didier Burkhalter, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland. In the meetings held during the visit, bilateral relations as well as fight against terrorism and current regional and international issues including the developments in Syria and Iraq were discussed. In this context, opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Turkey and Switzerland were considered. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed his thanks to his counterpart for showing solidarity after the coup attempt and gave information about FETO. He also underlined Turkey’s commitment to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, investments and tourism as well in the context of strengthening bilateral relations.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with the representatives of the Turkish Community who significantly contribute to the economic and cultural wealth of Switzerland, and underlined Turkey’s continued support to efforts for enhancing Turkish-Swiss relations and strengthening the Turkish Community in Switzerland.
