Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid a working visit to Qatar on 19-20 January 2015.

Within the framework of the visit Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Amir of the State of Qatar as well as Prime Minister H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani and met with H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meetings they exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as regional developments.

During the meeting they decided to make a greater effort towards enhancing economic relations as well as to hold the first meeting of the High Strategic Cooperation Committee in this year. The decision on setting up the Committee was taken last year.

In the meetings, the positive contribution of activities to held within the framework of “Turkey and Qatar Cultural Year” in 2015 on the relations was underlined.

At the press conference following his meeting with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that they exchanged views on political relations, development of economic relations and trade volume, increasing relations of tourism, and regional issues. In addition, Minister Çavuşoğlu said that a Yunus Emre Cultural Center will be opened in Doha.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with our citizens living in Qatar within the framework of the visit.
