Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu is in Mongolia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is paying an official visit to Mongolia on 11-13 April 2015.

Within the framework of his visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbergdorj and Prime Minister of Mongolia Chimed Saikhanbileg. He also met with his counterpart Foreign Minister of Mongolia Lundeg Purevsuren.

At Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu’s meeting with President Elbergdorj, views were exchanged on the steps that are needed to be taken to develop bilateral relations. Increasing the contacts between business people and developing tourism in order to foster economic ties as well as regional issues such as Yemen and Libya and energy issues were also on the agenda.

During Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu’s meeting with Prime Minister Saikhanbileg, it was emphasized that reciprocal visa exemption contributed significantly to trade and tourism cooperation between the two countries and that there can be cooperation especially in the construction field.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that relations between Turkey and Mongolia progress in all fields but bilateral trade volume comes short of expectations; mining, agriculture and energy shine out as potential cooperation areas, and the beginning of Turkish Airlines’ direct flights to Ulan Bator have great importance regarding further development of relations.
