Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu is in Jordan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Jordan in 9 September, 2014.

Within the framework of the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with his Jordanian counterpart, Nasser Judeh. At the meetings, all aspects of bilateral relations with Jordan were reviewed. Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on recent developments in the region.

Speaking at the joint press conference held following the meetings, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed his and Foreign Minister Judeh’s resolution to improve bilateral relations which are already on the level of excellence. He said “We signed a free trade agreement and cultural relations also improved. Now, we are establishing a High Level Strategic Cooperation Council to bring our excellent bilateral relations to the highest possible level. By doing that, we will boost Turkey’s investments in Jordan.”

Expressing that Turkey and Jordan adopt a common approach toward the developments in the region, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu said “Turkey and Jordan are the only two countries that borders both Iraq and Syria. Syrian refugees and the developments in Iraq have impacts on both countries. Turkey and Jordan shares a common position vis-a-vis the definition and resolution of these problems”.

Expressing his appreciation of Mr Çavuşoğlu’s first visit being to Jordan, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh emphasized the strong relations and common bonds between the two countries.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met with King Abdullah II of Jordan in which they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
