Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the visits to Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu, accompanied President Erdoğan during the visits to Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar between 22-25 January 2017.

President Erdoğan was welcomed by his counterpart, President Magufuli in the first stop of the visit, Tanzania.

President Erdoğan attended Turkey-Tanzania Business Forum and met with the businessmen in Dar Es Salaam. Speaking at the Forum, President Erdoğan praised the level of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Turkey and Tanzania. He also pointed out Turkey’s desire for further development of bilateral economic relations.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu signed the Cooperation Protocol between the Diplomacy Academy of Turkish Foreign Ministry and Foreign Relations Centre of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania. Within the scope of this visit, cooperation agreements on defense, development, education, health and tourism, as well as Memorandum of Understanding between Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) and Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC); Memorandum of Understanding between Turkish Airlines and AirTanzania and Memorandum of Understanding between Small and Medium Industry Development Organization (KOSGEB) and Tanzania Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO); and an agreement establishing “Turkey-Tanzania Business Council” between Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) and Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) were signed.

The visit to Mozambique constituted the first presidential visit from Turkey to Mozambique. President Erdogan was welcomed by President Nyusi.

In the beginning of his visit to Maputo, President Erdoğan visited Heroes Square and laid a wreath.

In his speech at the Turkey-Mozambique Business Forum, President Erdoğan underlined the potential for further development of bilateral commercial and economic ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu signed “Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement” for service and special passport holders and the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of Political Consultation Mechanism. Memoranda of Understanding on trade and economy, investments, culture and tourism were also signed during the visit.

In Madagascar, the last stop of his visit, President Erdoğan was welcomed by President Rajaonarimampianina.

Within the framework of the visit, two Memoranda of Understanding were signed on “Cooperation and consultation” and “Diplomatic Exchanges” between the Foreign Ministries, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding in finance and a protocol between Turkish and Malgache Radio and Television Corporations.

During these visits, bilateral/regional issues were discussed between delegations followed by President Erdoğan's bilateral meetings with his counterparts.
