Counter-Deash Coalition Small Group Meeting was held on 22 January 2015 under the co-chairmanship of Foreign Secretary of United Kingdom Philip Hammond and Secretary of State of United States of America John Kerry. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu represented Turkey at the meeting.

Representatives of more than 20 countries, which support the Counter-DEASH Coalition Group attended the meeting. At the meeting, participants exchanged views on ways of cutting financial support to DEASH and providing more military and humanitarian support to groups that fight DEASH.

At the meeting the road map suggested by USA was also discussed. The issues of military fight with DEASH, draining its financial resources, preventing foreign fighters from joining DEASH, the humanitarian situation and developing a communication strategy against DEASH were discussed.

While the importance of combatting the underlying causes of terrorism was emphasized in the meeting, Turkey’s determination in counter-terrorism and the importance she attaches to intelligence sharing and coordination in counter-terrorism were underlined.
