First Presidential visit from Niger to Turkey

President of Niger, H.E. Issoufou Mahamadou is paying a visit to Turkey upon the invitation of President of Turkey, H.E. Abdullah Gül.

President Gül and President Mahamadou had a tete-a-tete meeting and chaired the talks between their delegations. During the meetings, all aspects of bilateral and multilateral relations which have gained momentum in recent years were addressed.

Speaking at the joint press conference, President Gül said “We attach great importance to political stability and security of Niger, in this vein we will continue to make every contribution to the best of our ability. We will develop cooperation in various fields in the forthcoming period to further the relations between military, law enforcement and security departments of the two countries. The agreements signed today will establish the legal basis of this cooperation”.

Following the meeting, Technical and Development Cooperation Protocol between the Government of Turkey and the Government of Niger, Memorandum between the Undersecretariat of Treasury of Turkey and Ministry of Planning, Territory Management and Community Development of Niger, Protocol Regarding Estate Exchange for Diplomatic Missions between the Government of Turkey and the Government of Niger, Protocol on Police Training Cooperation between the Government of Turkey and the Government of Niger, Agreement on Security Cooperation between the Government of Turkey and the Government of Niger and Joint Declaration Concerning the Cooperation in the fields of Minerals, Energy and Hydrocarbon between Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey and Ministry of Minerals and Industrial Development of Niger were signed.

President Mahamadou's visit has particular importance in that it is the first state visit at the Presidential level between the two countries.
