On 29-30 January 2017 Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Argentina – the first stop of his tour to Latin American countries that includes also visits to Paraguay, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
The visit of FM Çavuşoğlu constituted the first visit from Turkey to Argentina at foreign ministerial level in the last 19 years.
Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu began his program in Buenos Aires by addressing Argentinian diplomats and academicians at the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI).
Minister Çavuşoğlu and the Foreign Minister of Argentina Susana Malcorara met at the San Martin Memorial where Minister Çavuşoğlu laid a wreath.
Later, the two Ministers held bilateral talks, followed by meetings between the Turkish and Argentinian delegations. Bilateral, regional and global issues were on the agenda.
Subsequently, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by the Argentinian Deputy President and President of the Senate Gabriela Michetti. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and the global agenda.
During the visit, the “Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters” was signed between Turkey and Argentina.
