Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Suriname, 21 September 2018

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname on 21 September 2018.

The said visit constituted the first ever visit at the Foreign Ministerial level from Turkey to Suriname.

Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Yldiz Pollack-Beighle of Suriname on 21 September 2018.

The Foreign Ministers stated their commitment to develop Turkey-Suriname relations.

The Agreement on Mutual Abolition of Visas for Diplomatic, Service and Special Passports, and the Cultural Cooperation Agreement between Turkey and Suriname, and the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Diplomacy Academy and Suriname’s Foreign Ministry’s Diplomacy Institute were signed.

After the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu and Foreign Minister Yldiz Pollack-Beighle held a joint press conference.

At the meeting held with President Desire Delano Bouterse of Suriname, Minister Çavuşoğlu underlined the importance Turkey attaches to Suriname within its outreach policy to Latin America and the Caribbean.
