Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Qatar to attend the 18th Doha Forum held on 15-16 December 2018.

On 15 December, Saturday, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Mustafa Kırımoğlu, the leader of Crimean Tatar Turks. Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey’s support for Crimean Tatars will always continue.

During his contacts in Doha, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. Minister Çavuşoğlu also visited Darb Al Saai Fair and Exhibition area, set up for the national day.

On December 16, Sunday, Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the 18th Doha Forum and gave a newsmaker interview to CNBC journalist Hadley Gamble. During his interview, Minister Çavuşoğlu spoke about a number of issues ranging from the process of extradition of the FETO culprit Fetullah Gülen to Turkey, to the situation in Syria and the threat posed by PKK/PYD/YPG against Turkey, as well as the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu discussed with Yezidi activist and 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad the situation of Yezidis. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that PKK/PYD/YPG continues to oppress everyone in Iraq and Syria, including Yezidis, Assyrians and Kurds.
