Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Iraq, 11 October 2018

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Iraq on 11 October 2018.

During the visit, Minister Çavuşoğlu held meetings in Baghdad with Prime Minister-designate Adil Abdul-Mahdi, Sayyed Ammar, leader of National Wisdom Movement, Muhammed Halbusi, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq, Ershad Salihi, leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, Turkmen deputies and Turkmen politicians, President Barham Salih of Iraq, Hadi Amiri, leader of the Badr Organization, and Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of Iraq.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey fully supports territorial integrity and sustainable stability of Iraq, and that Turkey-Iraq relations will be much stronger in the new period. Minister Çavuşoğlu also stated that Turkish Consulate Generals in Mosul and Basra will be reopened.

Following his contacts in Baghdad, Minister Çavuşoğlu visited Najaf where he met with Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadr Movement, and visited the shrine of Imam Ali.
