Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu accompanied President Erdoğan who paid a visit to Johannesburg to attend the BRICS Summit held on 25-27 July 2018.

On 26 July, Thursday President Erdoğan officially inaugurated the new chancery of the Turkish Embassy in Pretoria.

On the same day, President Erdoğan held meetings with President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation and President Macky Sall of Senegal.

Following the meetings, President Erdoğan addressed Muslim opinion leaders of the Republic of South Africa.

On 27 July, Friday, President Erdoğan attended the BRICS Summit. Following the Summit, President Erdoğan attended the BRICS Outreach Session held as part of the BRICS Summit, and delivered a speech.

On the sidelines of the Summit, President Erdoğan met with President Cyril Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa, President Joao Lourenco of Angola and President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo.

President Erdoğan met with prominent business people of the Republic of South Africa.
