Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s Visit to Macedonia, 17 – 18 June 2017

Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to the Republic of Macedonia on 17-18 June 2017, being the first Foreign Minister to visit Macedonia after the formation of the new Government.

Minister Çavuşoğlu had his first meeting with State Minister Adnan Kahil who welcomed him at the airport in Skopje.

Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov and Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on 18 June. Bilateral and interdelegational meetings with Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov were held.

All aspects of Turkey - Macedonia relations, as well as cooperation on regional and international issues were discussed at the meetings with Macedonian authorities.

At the joint press meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu, together with his Macedonian counterpart Dimitrov, shared information on his visit and replied questions of journalists.

In Skopje, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with State Minister Adnan Kahil and Erkan Mahmut, Secretary General of Turkish Movement Party, former State Minister Furkan Çako and co-chairs of Macedonian Association of Graduates of Turkish Universities İsmail Aliyi and Celadin Culi. Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Nikola Gruevski, former Prime Minister of Macedonia.

Minister Çavuşoğlu visited the construction site of International Balkan University.

Minister Çavuşoğlu came together with Turkish citizens living in Macedonia and the Turkish community representatives at an iftar dinner on the evening of 18 June, with the participation of President Gjorge Ivanov and Ministers.
