Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız received Pierre Krahenbühl, Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) on 22 November 2016.

In the meeting, during which information and experiences of Turkey and the Agency regarding their humanitarian and development assistance to the Palestinian community were shared, views were also exchanged on the role and priorities of Turkey as the Vice Chair and Chair of the UNRWA Advisory Commission after July 2017. Both sides agreed to organize meetings and field trips to finalize necessary preparations before the said date.

The importance of an effective follow up process for the outcomes of the World Humanitarian Summit, which was held on 23-24 May 2016 in Turkey, was also underlined in the meeting. It was agreed that Turkey and UNRWA would cooperate on this process.
