The 9th Summit Meeting of the Developing-8 (D-8) Organization hosted by President Erdoğan was held on 20 October 2017 in Istanbul. During the Summit, D-8 Chairmanship was handed over from Pakistan to Turkey.

The 9th Summit Meeting which also had special importance as it coincides with the 20th establishment anniversary of the D-8 Organization, focused on the theme of “Expanding Opportunities through Cooperation”.

Within the scope of the Summit, the 17th Session of the D-8 Council was held on 19 October 2017, presided by Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
