Commercial and Economic Relations between Turkey and Portugal

The bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Portugal stood at 1 billion 496 million USD in 2017, which corresponds to an increase of 14.3 percent compared to the year before. (Turkish exports  811 million USD, imports 684 million USD).

As of December 2017, there are 66 Portuguese companies operating in Turkey in various fields.

Main Turkish exports to Portugal are motor land vehicles, cotton yarn, iron and non-alloyed steel, refrigerators and deep freezers. Main imports from Portugal are paper and paperboard, chemical wood pulp, soda or sulfate, radiobroadcast receivers, parts and accessories for motor vehicles, boards, panels, consoles, etc. with electrical apparatus for electric control or distribution of electricity.

Total amount of direct investments from Portugal to Turkey in the period of 2002-2017 is 762 million USD, while the figure is 42 million USD for investments from Turkey to Portugal in the same period.

More than 26 thousand Portuguese tourists visited Turkey in 2017.
