Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu met in Ankara with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov who paid an official visit to Turkey on 22 February 2017. The Foreign Ministers attended the conference organized co-jointly by the Secretariat of the Turkic Council and Ahmet Yesevi University on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Khojaly Massacre.

Speaking at the conference Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey commiserates with Azerbaijan on the 25th anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre which constitutes a crime against humanity. Stressing that Turkey stands side by side with Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the cooperation between the two brotherly countries will continue to grow stronger in the upcoming period.
