International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council elections for the 2008-2009 biennium were held on 23 November 2007 during the 25th General Assembly in London.

Turkey, being a Council member since 1999, has been re–elected to the Council under Category “C”. As a result of these elections, among 167 member states of the IMO, 40 States are represented in the Council.

Our membership to the Council will enable our country, who has recently achieved further significant progress in the maritime field, to continue its effective contribution to the work of the IMO.
