Turkey welcomes the decision taken by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to shut down its nuclear reactor in Yongbyon and views this decision as an important step towards the implementation of the agreement reached at the Six Party Talks on 13 February 2007 as well as of the Joint Statement of 19 September 2005.

Turkey remains fully supportive of the Six Party Talks and wishes that this development gives further impetus to the process towards achieving lasting peace, security and stability in the region.
