Within the framework of the strong historical relations and fraternal bonds between the Republic of Türkiye and the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, paid a State Visit to the Sultanate of Oman from 22 to 23 October 2025, in response to the gracious invitation of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik - Sultan of Oman.

During the visit, the two sides held official talks that reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation to serve mutual interests. Both sides affirmed their commitment to advancing the strategic partnership between their two countries.

The visit witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding covering the fields of media and communications, investment, food, information technology, competition and anti-monopoly, industry, science and innovation, military cooperation and defense industries and mining, as well as an agreement on land allocation for an educational project.

The two sides underscored their keenness to enhance commercial, investment, and industrial cooperation, to encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors, and to activate the role of joint committees in boosting trade exchange. In addition, they announced the establishment of the Türkiye-Oman Coordination Council as an institutional framework to follow up on the implementation of memoranda of understanding and signed agreements, and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across all areas. They also renewed their support for the progress of the Free Trade Agreement negotiations between Türkiye and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The Sultanate of Oman welcomed the decision of the Republic of Türkiye to exempt Omani citizens from prior visa requirements, and in turn announced the exemption of Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports from prior visa requirements to enter the Sultanate of Oman, as a step that reflects the deepening of bilateral relations and facilitates the movement of individuals between the two friendly nations.

Both sides praised the ongoing cooperation in the fields of culture, heritage, and higher education, and emphasized the importance of enhancing cultural, artistic, and academic exchange between their countries.

The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, reaffirming their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving security and stability, and resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with the principles of international law.

Both sides welcome the ceasefire in Gaza, call for its full implementation and stress that the momentum achieved in the ceasefire negotiations should contribute to the realization of the two-state solution.

Both sides commend mediation and facilitation efforts by Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar and the United States to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and open up a window of opportunity for a just and lasting peace.

His Excellency President Erdoğan commended the role of the Sultanate of Oman in supporting dialogue and regional peace, while His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik valued the efforts of the Republic of Türkiye in supporting Arab and Islamic causes.
