Türkiye established diplomatic relations with Laos in 1958 and opened an Embassy in Vientiane on 27 December 2017.

Prime Minister H.E. Sisoulit Thongloun, then in his capacity as foreign minister, visited Türkiye on 6-7 April 2008 upon the official invitation extended by the then Foreign Minister H.E. Ali Babacan.

Our Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Laos on 7-8 November 2018.

11 Laotian citizens are registered to be resident in Türkiye while 20 Turkish citizens reside in Laos.

7 Laotian students have been awarded scholarship for their graduate studies in Türkiye under the Türkiye Scholarships programme since 1992.
