Based on the ground laid by common historical and cultural ties,
Türkiye-Bahrain political relations are pursued in line with the principles
of mutual interest and dialogue. Türkiye opened its Embassy in Bahrain in
1990, while the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Ankara has been in
operation since 2008.
Within the context of high-level bilateral visits, King of Bahrain H.M.
Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa visited Türkiye on 25-28 August 2016, while
President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Bahrain on
12-13 February 2017. On the occasion of those visits, various agreements
were signed and the Medal of Sheikh Isa bin Salman, Bahrain's highest state
distinction, was bestowed upon H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In addition, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin
Ahmad bin Mohammad Al-Khalifa attended the OIC Extraordinary Summit on
Al-Quds held on 18 May 2018 in Istanbul. On the other hand, the second
round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs
of Türkiye and Bahrain took place in Ankara on 25 March 2016.
