The second Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was held in Asghabat , the capital of Turkmenistan on 29 January 2015. The first one of the meetings was held last year in May in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the joint press conference held after the meetings, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have strong historical, cultural and economic ties and the objective of the parties is to deepen and strengthen the relations on the basis of these ties.

Expressing that cooperation in the energy field was of particular importance during the meetings, Foreign Minister emphasized that especially in light of the developments in Europe, diversifying the energy resources and the security of energy supply and demand are always main items on the agenda. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that during the meetings they discussed how to deliver safely Azerbaijani and Turkmen gas from the Hazar basin to the European countries through Turkey.

Stating that the Foreign Ministerial meetings will be transformed into Presidential Summits, Foreign Minister said that this is an indicator of the importance the three countries gave to each other and that in the next future Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan relations will be stronger in every field .
