
The Fourth Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) hosted by President of Turkey, H.E. Abdullah Gül was held in Bodrum on 4-5 June, 2014.
Presidents of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, member states of the Turkic Council, as well as President of Turkmenistan, H.E. Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov upon the invitation of President Gül attended the Summit.
This year’s Summit was held with the theme of “cooperation in tourism” with a view to emphasizing historical and cultural values of the member states.
Speaking at the closing session of the Summit President Gül recalled that the Turkic Council was established with a view to providing an institutional framework for multilateral cooperation and said “Our main objective, while supporting the other regional cooperation mechanisms was to solidify regional partnership motivation and to create news synergies. We believed that this way we would make more contribution to our people’s welfare and our region’s stability; and would consolidate our partnership and solidarity.”
President Gül said “With our support, the Council will become a center of attraction developing concrete, result-oriented projects that will contribute to our people’s stability and welfare. We have taken many significant steps so far. Implementation of the decisions taken at the Summits and realization of concrete projects are of great importance. We as the Presidents will closely follow the implementation of projects. We need to maintain this momentum.”
At the end of the Summit, Presidents of the member states signed the joint declaration.
