The first meeting of Turkey-Hungary High Level Strategic Cooperation Council was held in Ankara

Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. Victor Orban paid an official visit to Turkey on December 17-18, 2013.

During the visit, Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Hungarian counterpart signed the Joint Political Declaration on the Establishment of a High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) between Turkey and Hungary. Moreover, 14 agreements in the fields of environment, energy, forestry and water affairs, culture, education and media as well as concerning visa facilitation for businessmen were signed.

The first meeting of HLSCC, co-chaired by the Prime Ministers was held with the participation of relevant Ministers of the two countries. At the meeting, bilateral relations as well as issues regarding the EU, Cyprus question, fight against international terrorism were discussed, views were exchanged on current regional and international issues.

The visit of Prime Minister of Hungary is of particular importance as it corresponds to the 90th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship which was signed between Turkey and Hungary on December 18, 1923.
