QA-77, 29 November 2018, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, in Response to a Question Regarding the Rejection of Our Extradition Request for FETO Members Hamdi Akın İpek, Talip Büyük, Ali Çelik and Mustafa Yeşil by the London Westminster Magistrate Court

Yesterday (November 28th), our request for extradition of Hamdi Akın İpek, Ali Çelik, Talip Büyük and Mustafa Yeşil to Turkey, has been rejected by the judge at the hearing held by London Westminster Magistrate Court.

The reasoning of the Court to deny our extradition request is entirely unsubstantiated.

Our expectation is prompt return of these persons to Turkey in order to try them before the Turkish Courts, who were among the prominent members of the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization that carried out the July 15 treacherous coup attempt, claiming the life of 251 innocent citizens and wounding thousands. We are determined to pursue our efforts in this way.

It was strongly emphasized to the British authorities that the decision of the Westminster court, which refused the extradition of the accused to our country, was unacceptable and deeply disappointing.
