Türkiye and Togo enjoy good bilateral relations. Regular high-level contacts are held on the margins of multilateral organization meetings (UN, OIC, African Union, etc.). Türkiye opened its Embassy in Lome on April 1st 2021.
H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe, former President of the Togolese Republic visited Türkiye in 2014 on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye. Former President H.E. Gnassingbe has sent a letter of congratulations to H.E. President Erdoğan following his re-election in 2018.
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and his counterpart Prof. Robert Dussey met in 2017 in New York on the margins of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly.
H.E. Faure Gnassingbe, former President Togolese Republic, currently president of the Council of Ministers, assisted to the inauguration ceremony of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the President of the Republic of Türkiye, in June 2023.
H.E. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and his counterpart H.E. Prof. Robert Dussey held bilateral talks in the margins of the 60th Munich Security Conference, in February 2024.
Trade between Türkiye and Togo is rising. The trade volume was 90 million US Dollars in 2018, this figure reached 248 million US Dollars in 2024.
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) is also active in Togo.
Since 1992, many Togolese students have benefited from Turkish scholarships. The Government of Türkiye is still continuing to grant scholarships to Togolese students.
