Relations between Türkiye and Luxembourg

Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Luxembourg were established in 1946. As two NATO allies, our bilateral relations with Luxembourg gained momentum with the opening of the Turkish Embassy in Luxembourg in 1987. The Embassy of Luxembourg in Ankara was opened in 2011.

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg paid a state visit to Türkiye on 18-22 November 2013, upon the invitation of the 11th President of the Republic, Mr. Abdullah Gül. This was the first visit of a Head of State from Luxembourg to Türkiye since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President Erdoğan paid a visit to Luxembourg in November 2004, when he was Prime Minister.

The last official visit from Luxembourg to Türkiye at the Foreign Minister level took place on 14-15 January 2019. Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Xavier Bettel, visited our country on May 14-15, 2025, to attend the NATO Foreign Ministers' Informal Meeting in Antalya, and Minister Hakan Fidan visited Luxembourg on October 19-20, 2025, to attend the Ministerial Meeting on Cross-Regional Security and Connectivity, held within the framework of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council. Minister Bettel participated in the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum on April 15-19, 2026.
