The increasingly broad and deep relations between the two countries have been reinforced by high-level visits. Our President, during his time as Prime Minister, paid an official visit to Singapore on January 8-9, 2014. This visit marked the first Prime Minister-level visit from Türkiye to Singapore in 18 years. Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım also paid an official visit to Singapore on August 21-22, 2017. Singapore's former Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, visited Türkiye on October 12-15, 2014. This visit was the first Prime Minister-level visit from Singapore to Türkiye in 24 years. During the visit, relations between the two countries were elevated to the level of Strategic Partnership.

The Türkiye -Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA), signed in November 2015 during former Prime Minister Lee's visit to Türkiye for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Antalya, entered into force in October 2017. This agreement is the most comprehensive and advanced FTA Türkiye has signed to date.

In addition, key economic agreements such as the Mutual Promotion of Investments and the Avoidance of Double Taxation are in effect between Türkiye and Singapore. Under the " Türkiye Scholarships" program, 12 Singaporean citizens have benefited from our government scholarships since 1992.

In 2011, various cooperation documents were signed between the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) and Boğaziçi University, Koç University, and the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) to increase cooperation and provide scholarship opportunities in areas such as research, doctoral education, and faculty exchange. Our efforts to strengthen relations between our academic institutions continue.
