Relations between Türkiye and Peru

The diplomatic relations between Türkiye and the Republic of Peru date back to 1950. Between 1950 and 2010 the Turkish Embassy located in Santiago, Chile was accredited to Peru. The Embassy of Türkiye in Lima and the Embassy of Peru in Ankara respectively opened in 2010.

Türkiye has an embassy in Lima, while Peru also has an honorary consulate in Istanbul in addition to the Peruvian Embassy located in Ankara.

Dear President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Peru in 2-3 February 2016. This was the first presidential level official visit from Türkiye to Peru.

Political Consultations Mechanism exists between Türkiye and Peru and the last meeting was held in Lima on the 26 May 2025 between the delegations chaired by the Director General of Latin American Bilateral Affairs, Ambassador Yaprak Balkan, and the Director General of Europe, Ambassador Alberto Campana of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.

Türkiye and Peru maintain positive bilateral relations and there is a common will on both sides to develop existing relations in every field. 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the countries.
