Relations between Türkiye and Mauritius

Türkiye’s relations with Mauritius, which is a stable democracy and an important economic actor in the region, are being developed via the Turkish Embassy in Antananarivo that became operational as of 21 April 2010, which is also accredited to Mauritius. Mauritius’s Embassy in Berlin is accredited to Türkiye.

Türkiye has an Honorary Consulate-General in Port-Louis.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Arvin Boolell visited Türkiye on February 5-8, 2013 to sign Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement and Mutual Promotion and Protection of the Investments Agreement (APPI). Lastly, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities H.E. Patrick Gervais Assirvaden visited Turkey on 20-23 April 2025.

Bilateral trade volume with Mauritius is 88,8 million USD in 2024. Free Trade Agreement is also in force with Mauritius.

Türkiye, within the framework of Türkiye Scholarships, provides scholarships for university students from Mauritius. The number of Mauritian students Türkiye has provided scholarships since 1992 is 63.

Within the framework of the International Junior Diplomats Training Program, organized by the Diplomacy Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 4 junior diplomats from Mauritius have been hosted in Türkiye so far.

Turkish Airlines flights from Istanbul to Port-Louis, which started in 2015, has constituted an important development for our bilateral relations. Turkish Airlines’ passenger and cargo flights (7 times per week) to Mauritius, as well as Turkish companies’ operations in the country have also contributed positively to our relations.
