Relations between Türkiye and Liberia

Turkish Embassy in Accra has been accredited to Liberia in 2013. Liberian Embassy in Brussels is accredited to Türkiye.

Türkiye is willing to open a resident Embassy in Liberia. Efforts are underway to open the Embassy in Monrovia.

The then former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia H.E. Agustine Kpehe Nagfuan has paid an official visit to Türkiye between 12-16 May 2014. This was the first ever visit at the level of Minister of Foreign Affairs from Liberia to Türkiye. During this visit, two agreements concerning cooperation in the field of education and abolition of visa for diplomatic passport holders and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the diplomacy academies have been signed.

The first ever Foreign Minister visit from Türkiye to Liberia has been realized on 11 July 2018 by H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. Minister Çavuşoğlu has met with former Minister of Foreign Affairs Marjon Kamara and has been received by former President Ellen Johson Sirleaf and Vice President Joseph Boakai.

The bilateral trade volume between Türkiye and Liberia has reached to 81,6 million dollars in 2015, 73,4 million Dollars in 2016, 297,2 million Dollars in 2017, 151,7 million Dollars in 2018 and 191,9 million Dollars in 2019.

Türkiye is providing development assistance through Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency to Liberia in various domains.

Since 1992, government of Türkiye grants scholarships to Liberian students.
