Relations between Türkiye and Honduras

Relations between Türkiye and the Republic of Honduras have been limited due to geographical distance and different foreign policy priorities of both countries. However, a new era began after Türkiye’s observer membership of the Central American Integration System (SICA) in February 2015 and the opening of the Embassy of Türkiye in Guatemala, which is accredited to Honduras, in September 2015.

H.E. Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met his Honduran counterpart H.E. Arturo Corrales Alvarez on the occasion of Türkiye-SICA Foreign Ministers I. Forum held in Guatemala on February 13, 2015.

H.E. Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a bilateral meeting with Honduran Foreign Minister H.E. Maria Dolores Agüero Lara on the occasion of Türkiye-SICA Foreign Ministers II. Forum held in Istanbul on April 20, 2017.

The Republic of Honduras is Türkiye’s fourth trading partner in Central America. A significant portion of exports from Türkiye to Honduras consists of iron and steel products, machinery and machine parts, weapons and ammunition, electrical devices, plastic and plastic derivatives. Textile and tobacco products are the main elements of our imports from the Republic of Honduras.

The trade volume between the two countries was approximately 177,1 million USD (Türkiye’s exports: 166,4 million USD, Türkiye’s imports: 10,7 million USD) by the end of 2021.
