Relations between Türkiye and Denmark

Political Relations

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 26 January 1925 by the “Treaty of Friendship between the Republic of Türkiye and the Kingdom of Denmark”.

The last Presidential visit to Denmark was paid on 17-18 March 2014. Foreign Minister Lars Lökke Rasmussen paid a visit to Türkiye on 27 October 2023.

Main export items: Clothing and accessories, land transportation vehicles, electrical machinery and equipment, other transportation vehicles, vegetables, fruits and their products, finished metal products.

Main import items: Metal ores, energy-generating machinery and devices used in various industries, organic chemical products, chemical industry products, various manufactured goods, electrical machinery and devices.

Direct investments from Denmark to Türkiye during 2002-2023 amounted to 671 million Dollars. Turkish direct investments in Denmark in the same period were 42 million Dollars.

Türkiye-Denmark Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) held its second meeting on 27 October 202o.

320 thousand Danish tourists visited Türkiye in 2023.

Cultural, Educational and Consular Relations

Turkish community living in Denmark consists of around 75 thousand people. They are the biggest migrant community in Denmark and represent an important component of our bilateral relations.

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ student exchange program, 876 Turkish students went to Denmark and 657 Danish students came to Türkiye in the period of 2014 - 2023.
