QA:21, 20 May 2010, Statement of the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in Response to a Question

The Joint Declaration which was signed in Tehran on 17 May 2010 by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and the Foreign Ministers of Iran and Brazil offers an important contribution to the efforts to settle the issues related to the Iranian nuclear file through peaceful means. In order to seize this opportunity, support of the international community to the constructive, international law abiding and forward looking understanding reflected in the Joint Declaration, has a key importance.

The Dushanbe Declaration adopted today (20 May) at the end of the 37th Session of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Council of Foreign Ministers welcomed the Joint Declaration with appreciation and strongly called on the international community to support the Joint Declaration and to use the positive atmosphere created as a result to produce agreements addressing all aspects of the issue.

We think that the call by the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference that has 57 members at its 37th Session, where Turkey was represented by a delegation headed by Minister of State Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz, was significant and we welcome this development.
