QA-15, 22 April 2015, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tanju Bilgiç, In Response to a Question on Alleged Refusal by Turkey of an Over-Flight Permission to a Plane Going to Yerevan

Allegations about the refusal by Turkey of an over-flight permission to a plane carrying Milorad Dodik, President of the Republika Srpska, to Yerevan do not reflect the reality.

The Ministry has not received any request for diplomatic clearance for the plane carrying Mr. Dodik. No application was made to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, either. On the other hand, a clearance request was timely granted by our air traffic control units to a private aircraft that submitted a flight plan between Bulgaria and Yerevan. This aircraft, however, has not used our airspace despite receiving the necessary clearance.

As there are no obstacles in this matter, over-flight permission for the transfer of Mr. Dodik to Yerevan would be granted, were it to be requested.
