Unfounded information has been observed in today’s copies of several newspapers according to which Turkish military facilities were also targeted during the terrorist attacks perpetrated on 15 April in Kabul and Turkish soldiers have engaged during the clashes.
During these abhorrent attacks, unfortunately the Afghan parliament, some public institutions, embassies and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) installations were targeted. A press release conveying our sadness and condolences was separately issued.
However, none of the Turkish civilian or military facilities were targeted during these attacks, nor our soldiers had to counteract any attack.
Causing anxiety to the families and relatives in Turkey of our soldiers who are serving in Afghanistan as an indication of our centuries old solidarity with the friendly and brotherly Afghan people, as well as to our citizens working in this country in public or private sector institutions with such unfounded news is incompatible with responsible journalism.
