We consider that the parliamentary elections held in Georgia on 1 October marks a significant step for democracy in friendly and brotherly Georgia and that Georgian people, who have exercised their democratic rights freely, have given a meaningful message in terms of political maturity to the whole region, as well as to the world.

We welcome the declaration of all the political groups in Georgia that they will respect the results of the elections.

We have no doubt that H.E. President Saakashvili and Mr.Bidzina Ivanishvili, leader of Georgian Dream Coalition, who came out victoriously from the elections and the new Georgian Parliament will join forces to further the advancement of democracy and economic development.

Turkey desires to further deepen in the coming period the already existing cooperation with our neighbor Georgia, with whom we have excellent bilateral relations.
