Prime Minister Zeidan of Libya in Turkey

Prime Minister of Libya, Mr. Ali Zeidan paid a working visit to Turkey on January 3, 2014, upon the invitation of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister of Turkey. Prime Minister Zeidan was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister who is also Acting Minister of Interior as well as Ministers of International Cooperation, Economy, Housing and Infrastructure, Transportation, Finance and Oil and Gas.

At the meeting chaired by Prime Ministers of the two countries, all aspects of the relations between Turkey and Libya were reviewed; projects to be realized with a view to developing bilateral cooperation were addressed. Moreover, views were exchanged on regional and international developments.

Prime Minister Erdoğan and Prime Minister Zeidan of Libya, following their meeting signed the joint political communiqué concerning the establishment of High Level Strategic Cooperation Council between Turkey and Libya. Customs Cooperation Agreement was also signed by Economy Ministers of the two countries.

Speaking at the joint press conference Prime Minister Erdoğan pointed out the historical and huge ties in military, economic, trade and cultural fields between Turkey and Libya and underlined that in the forthcoming period, bilateral relations will further develop once the system is established in Libya as the country goes through a transition.
